Most important areas of application |
The TIG welding rod UTP A 6222 Mo is suitable for welding similar, high-strength, and highly corrosion-resistant nickel-based alloys, including:
X1 NiCrMoCuN25-20-6, Material No. 1.4529, UNS N08926 Other applications include joining welds between ferritic and austenitic steels as well as overlay welds on steel. Due to its high yield strength, the welding rod is also suitable for welding 9% nickel steels. Typical applications are found in aerospace, the chemical industry, and the seawater sector. |
|
Special characteristics |
The weld metal is characterized by favorable long-term creep values, high corrosion resistance, and very good resistance to stress corrosion cracking and hot cracking. It possesses high strength and toughness, even at temperatures up to 1100 °C. The alloying elements molybdenum and niobium in the nickel-chromium matrix ensure exceptional fatigue strength. The weld metal is highly oxidation-resistant, practically immune to stress corrosion cracking, and resistant to intergranular corrosion without additional heat treatment. |

Welding instructions |
Weld seam preparation is carried out according to the respective sheet thickness, for example, by mechanical means. The welding zone must be clean and free of residues such as grease, paint, and metal dust. During welding, care must be taken to minimize heat input. The interpass temperature should not exceed 150 °C. The recommended heat input is below 12 kJ/cm. |
