Material: Welding rod/wire electrode made of aluminum-magnesium alloy for TIG and MIG welding of aluminum alloys.

Standard designations:
- EN ISO 18273: S Al 5087 (AlMg4,5MnZr)
- AWS/ASME SFA-5.10: ER 5087

Fields of application: Aluminum-magnesium alloys, e.g., AlMg3 (3.3535), AlMg4.5Mn (3.3547), AlMg5 (3.3555); conditionally for hardenable alloys such as AlCuMg1 (3.1325), AlMgSi1 (3.2315), AlZn4.5Mg1 (3.4335).

Typical weld metal analysis (%): Al base, Mg 4.50–5.20, Mn 0.70–1.10, Cr 0.05–0.25, Ti ≤0.05, Zr 0.10–0.20.

Mechanical properties of weld metal (typical values, TIG/MIG, welding argon, untreated, +20 °C): Rp0.2 140 MPa, Rm 300 MPa, A5 20 %.

Physical properties (typical values): electrical conductivity at 20 °C 16–19 S·m/mm², thermal conductivity 110–120 W/(m·K), linear thermal expansion coefficient (20–100 °C) 23.7 × 10⁻⁶ 1/K.

Special notes: Weld seam area must be metallic bright; preheat larger workpieces to +150 °C; when welding hardenable alloys, do not place the weld seam in the mechanically highly stressed zone.

Shielding gases: TIG I1; MIG I1, Monomix (I1 with 0.015 % N2). Current type/polarity: TIG ~, MIG = +. Welding positions according to DIN EN ISO 6947: PA, PB, PF.

Approvals: TÜV, DB, CE.

Dimensions: Rod diameter 1.6–4.0 mm, rod length 1000 mm.
