Description:
The Böhler FOX CN 23/12-A is a rutile-coated, core wire alloyed stick electrode of type E 23 12 L / E309L-17 with an increased ferrite content in the weld metal. This ferrite content enables high crack resistance in materials that are normally difficult to weld, such as austenite-ferrite connections and weld claddings. This electrode is characterized by particularly beautiful welding results and can be processed excellently with both direct current and alternating current. It produces self-releasing slag and is suitable for applications in a temperature range from -60ºC to 300ºC. For weld claddings, it can even be used up to 400ºC.
The Böhler FOX CN 23/12-A is mainly suitable for claddings (buffer layers) on unalloyed or low-alloyed steels, as well as for connections of non-molybdenum-alloyed stainless steels with unalloyed, austenitic, or heat-resistant steels.
Some important notes: Preheating and interpass temperature should be adapted to the respective base material. The recommended heat input should not exceed 2.0 kJ/mm. In exceptional cases, re-drying at 250 to 300ºC for at least 2 hours may be necessary. However, usually no heat treatment after welding is required. If you have constructions with low-alloy steels in mixed joints, it may be advisable to perform a stress relief treatment. It is always recommended to contact the base material supplier or consult experts to ensure that the correct heat treatment process is applied.
