Böhler Union X 90 Solid Wire
Union X 90 is a low-alloy, copper-coated solid wire electrode for MAG welding high-strength fine-grain structural steels. The welding wire is particularly suitable for quenched and tempered and thermomechanically rolled steels with minimum yield strengths up to approx. 890 MPa and is primarily used in crane construction, vehicle manufacturing, and steel construction with high-strength structures.
Thanks to its special micro-alloying concept, Union X 90 offers good ductility and high resistance to cold cracking even at very high strength. In the as-welded condition, the weld metal achieves typical mechanical values of approx. 915 MPa yield strength, 960 MPa tensile strength, and 20% elongation. The impact energy is typically 130 J at +20 °C and at least 47 J at -60 °C under mixed gas M21.
The wire is designed for welding with DC+ and can be processed with shielding gases according to EN ISO 14175, in particular M20 and M21. Suitable base materials include S890Q, S890QL, alform® 900, and comparable high-strength fine-grain structural steels.
