Application
Due to the use of fluxes, slag normally remains on welded workpieces. The crust serves to protect the weld pool from negative influences of the outside air and must be removed after welding. A chipping hammer is used for this step.
After treatment with the chipping hammer, the weld can be refined again by brushing or grinding. Pickling the seam may also be an option to remove discoloration or to chemically clean the weld.
Maintenance and upkeep
The hammer rarely needs to be cleaned; due to its robustness and durability, it rarely requires care.
However, the anti-rust coating should be intact and checked regularly.
If the paint should chip or be damaged over time, corrosion can only be avoided if the welding hammer receives a new anti-rust coating.
