The weld metal of this electrode type, which corresponds to type 0.5Mo, exhibits a microstructure of acicular ferrite and bainite. Thanks to its advantageous mechanical properties, it is suitable for use both in the as-welded condition and after heat treatment. This electrode is used in a wide range of welding applications, from joining similar heat-resistant steels and cast steel to joining high-strength structural, fine-grained, and pipeline steels. The stick electrode is particularly well suited for welding workpieces with wall thicknesses up to 30 mm and for welding root passes. Böhler FOX DMO Ti is approved for long-term use at temperatures up to 550°C.
