The weld metal of this type, consisting of 2.25% chromium and 1% molybdenum, has a bainitic microstructure. It is suitable for applications in the tempered condition, after quenching and tempering, and under certain conditions even in the as-welded condition. The areas of application include the joining of similar heat-resistant steels and cast steels, particularly in power plant construction and the chemical industry. BÖHLER FOX CM 2 Kb is approved for long-term applications at temperatures up to 600 °C. The very low content of accompanying and trace elements in the weld metal ensures a Bruscato factor of less than 15 ppm, which makes the electrode resistant to temper embrittlement and meets the requirements for step-cooling test conditions.
